The South Sydney seat, which previously was doubtful, was won by the sitting Labour member., Although Mr E. G. Theodore (exPremier of Queensland) lias slightly improved his position in connection with the Herbert seat, it is not thought that he will be able to wrest the victory from his opponent. LONDON, Nov. 23.
The Tush to buy rubber shares on tlhe Stock Exchange this morning resembled a Rugby scrummage as brokers triect to execute the orders. The demand slackened later and prices eased somewhat.
In the House of Commons, replying to questions, Sir Samuel Hoare 1 (Minister for Air) said that during the year ended September 30 there had been forty-two accidents in the Air Force owing to machines crashing, involving fifty-seven deaths. None of the machines were equipped with parachutes, but provision was now being made as speedily as possible for the equipment of the whole Air Force with parachutes.
