GUNS FOR THE RIFFS.
GERMAN BUYER’S ACTIVITIES. LONDON, Nov. 9. The Westminster Gazette reveals the fact that an unnamed Englishman, who has been commissioned by a German business man to purcahse 100,000 army rifles, 5000 blankets, and 4000 saddles, is at present in Be'gium securing the balance of the equipment. Thi s ,is being stowed in a cargo boat for transhipment to a mystery vessel in midocean.
It is said to he an open secret that the material is destined for Morocco.
The Tangier correspondent of the Daily Mail reports, that Captain Charles Gardiner, the “Riff Ambassador,” who was acquitted by a London jury in May on a charge of swindling in connection with gun-running to Morocco', put in a surprise appearance at that port at midnight, aboard the yacht Si’ver Crescent. A British destroyer immediately held up the yacht, which was hoarded and searched.
