The Chamber adopted, by 243 votes to 144, an emergency Bill authorising an increase of cue and a-half milliard francs in the limit of the Bank of France’s advances to the Treasury. M. Briand refused the Premiership immediately, but promised to explore the possibilites of forming a combination with a, stable- majority. The prospect of success is doubtful. The Senate, by 170 votes to 103, adopted the Bill in regard to the advance by the Bank of France to the Treasury.
