COLLISION WITH TRAIN.
CHARABANC SMASHED. SEVERAL CHILDREN INJURED. (BY TELEGRAPH r.HiSB ASSOCIATION.) NAPIER., July 9. A tweive-seater charabanc, which was bringing twenty children to school from Riverbend Hoad, collided with the Eskda’e train at Taradale road this morning. Several of the children were injured, some seriously. The ear was cut in two, the back overhanging portion being taken clean off. The railway track was in full, view for one hundred yards, but apparently the driver failed to notice the train until within a few yards of the crossing, and too late to avoid a smash. THREE CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL. NAPIER, July 9. Three children are in the hospital a.s a result of the charabanc accident. They are : Mavis Holder, aged 9 years, suffering from, a fractured right leg abrasions and shock; Erie Holder, aged 13, fractured left leg; Erie Hodgkin son, aged 11, badly cut about tilie jaw and mouth. All the other children escaped with shock.
It is stated tlnat the driver did not see the train until the children called out.
