HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND.
CONDUCTOR’S MONTHLY REPORT In his report on the workings of the Hawera Municipal Band for the month of June, Lieut. H. C. A. Fox reported that sixteen parades (twelve practices and four outside performances) had been held. The progress was well maim tained and the attendances of bandsmen was good. The pleasant Sunday afternoon functions were a great success and were much appreciated. The strength of the band was 31, and Mr. Fox had five learners coming on. Permission to enter the band in a one-day contest at New Plymouth, to be held in November under the auspices of the New Plymouth Citizens’ Rand, and for the quartette aud s olo competitions at the Hawera Competitions was requested. Thanks were due to Mr. Brunette for the donation of four medals for competition among the bandsmen, and for which a competition had beerf arranged for July 20.
