CHANGE WANTED.

SYSTEM OF ELECTION. DAIRY CONTROL BOARD. DEPUTATION TO- PRIME MINISTER tBY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON July 9. Claims for an amendment of the Dairy Produce Export Control Act in the direction or shostituting the ward system of election for the present svstem were presented to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture to-day by a large deputation representing the dairy producers in nil parts of the Dominion. Mr. Nash introduced the deputation, and said that the producers felt they did not have the representation on the hoard tliev wer© entitled to. Others also spoke favouring the ward svstem. ‘ The Hon. Mr. Nosworthy said that lie was quite of the opinion that some change would have to lie made, hut he was not inclined to say much on the subject just now. As originally designed the Bill provided for the college system of election, but the House of Representatives, or one of the committees, insisted upon an alteration, hence the present system. The alteration proposed by the deputation would have to be considered by the same House which passed the existing legislation, and he' doubted whether it was worth while introducing an amendment. “Aon would have had a better system* than vou have now if I had had my way before,” he said. Mr. Coates said he would be pleased to have th e matter considered in Cabinet.
