ROWING NOTES.

The final heat in the rowing competition for Mr W. Fraser’s medals was pulled off on Saturday evening, the public interest in the result being manifested by tbe large assemblage of persons desirous of witnessing tbe race. The final was between Marshall’s crew (Marshall, Richardson, McKinney, and Warren), representing the Poverty Bay Club, and Lunn’s crew (Lunn, Simms, Adair, and Johnstone), representing the Gisborne Club. Though Lunn's crew pulled very gamely, it was clear that they were outmatched, and the race resulted in an easy victory for Marshall. The representative crew of the Gisborne Club in the annual match against Napier have been selected, In the order— Bourn, stroke I Miller, 2 Moatt, 3 I Green, bow A meeting of the Selection Committee of the Poverty Bay Club was held last night, !fchen two representative crews were picked:— • S AGAINST HAWKE’B BAY. J. Nisbett, stroke I W. Walters, 3 W. Marshall, 3 |C, Hansen, bow AGAINST AUCKLAND. J.Walfers, stroke I Loomb, 2 Richardson, 3 | McKinney, bow A local match has also barn arranged between two crews, picked by Adeane and Warren. Warren’a crew—Sawyer, Warren, Nutting, and Lewis, Adeane's crew—Leslie, Reed, Adeane, and W. Nisbett. The Napier Bowing Club have picked the following crew to row against Gisborne this season Smith (stroke), Miseen (3), Chapman (2), and Hughes (bow).
