The Tent Meetings.

Ths *’ Calico Church,” near Mr East’s, was crowded on Sunday night by tiiose wishing to hear Mr Hare leoturs on* the Bible. The text was taken from I Thee., 5 21—“ Prove all things’.’* In introducing the subject the speaker referred to the bitter opposition that bad so often met the Bible, and yet it was found to survive', and was to-day translated into nearly 300 languages. In preying when it was written he referred to representative man who had written and preached about the Bible from the days of Wesley back to Justine Martyr, who lived 10 years before the death of the last Bible writer. The evidence thus obtained was to the effect that the Now Testament was written by the Apostles in apostolic days. The Atheist’s testimony was then taken and followed back from Paine to Oeleus, who flourished about 75 years after John,aitoitwaealio found that in thsirwriting against the Bible they had proved its existence back in Apostolic days. Its inspiration, ths speaker said, was easily proved by 1U wonderful prophecies, Two of these, found in Ezekiel, 29 and 80, were referred to, treating on the subjugation of Egypt, and the exact fulfilment which had followed. At the dose the speaker said he had no sect or ism to defend, but took his stand on the Bible alone. The lecture was listened to by an attentive audience both inside and outside the tent. The subject last night was Daniel’s Panorama of the Ages. This covered the world's history from ths time of Babylon, through the succeeding empires, and the tan divisions of the Boman King, dom, down to the present day.
