The Living and the Dead.

The following communication was handed to the N.Z. Times for publica - tion—- “ To the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, to the Europeans and the Maori people. “ Feiends, -’-Salutations to you I May we live in prosperity, and may Goa protect and bless us “My dear friends, —I have been to he Museum, and have there seen the pecimens of the various classes of natural history there exhibited. “ Friends, —I went all over the building and inspected each article. They were very good, but they were only skeletons—there was not a living thing—they have all long ago lost the glory they had in life. A man has his own glory, an animal has its own peculiar glory. The birds also have their glory, but differ one from the other. At death the glory has passed •way. That is why I have a word for you, and it is this—do away with the skeletons, the dead things, and replace them with the living ones of each class, that they may be gazed at by all the people of the world. New Zealand is a good place and has a great name in the world, and because of its great name people flock to it, and for this reason I ask you to collect specimens of every living thing and Slace them in the museum.
