Kings Ransom Runs Better

(Rec. 2.20). MELBOURNE, Nov. 6. By his running yesterday in the C. B. Fisher Plate, a weight-for-age race of a mile and a-half, the New Zealand gelding, King’s Ransom, showed that his form in the Melbourne Cup was all wrong. He finished near the real - of the field in that race, but on Saturday, although an outsider, he fought on\strongly for second place. He, however, had no chance of overtaking the winnfer, Dickens, who won easily. Royal Tan, who was an acceptor for both the C. B. Fisher Plate and the V.R.C. Handicap, was withdrawn from both engagements.
