BULLER BAND JUBILEE
Probably what was one of Westports larges processions was seen in Palmerston Street on Saturday afternoon. Celebrating its eighteith anniversary, the Westport Municipal Band led by one of its old conductors headed the procession, and was followed by floats representing the Savage Club, Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, Kiwi Basketball Club and Westport Fire Brigade. The Westport Pipe Band had a good reception from the public and also participating was the Granity band. The light horse brigade turned out in force and they looked very effective. Those dressed as old pioneers were veiy popular. The band since 1869 has had the following conductors: Messrs J. Scott, J. Crawford, J. Marris, Tim Sheehan, jun., T. McNeight, Flerr Sander, L. Millard. Frank Hopkinson, Bob Lowe, Joe Lowe, W.’ Cooper, A. McMaster, S. Wheatley, M. Thomason, n. Francis K. Mara and K. Smith. Members 50 years ago were W. Thimblemy J. J. Moloney, Geo. Martin, Jas Simon, M. O’Malley, D. O’Neill. A. Low, A. Her:on, W. Wright, H. Phillips, E. Upham T. Dickson, W. Armstrong, H. Asmuss, Jim Hale Jack- Blind, J. Harris Dan Jones Bob Gremmeli, M. Bevan, C. Bond, A. Crawford, T. Dobson, T. Bottom, E. Fisher, W. Morgan, W. Kissell, T. McNeight, S. Morris. L. Pain, J. Vitaglich, L. Millard, J. McNanty, and J. Richards.
