Unique Aboriginal Sculpture
SYDNEY, (By airmail) Some aboriginal statues exhibited here recently were described by anthropologists as the most remarkable “find in Australia during the last 25 years. The statues are representations of human figures carved “in the round,” and scientists said that until their discovery it was always supposed that Australian aborigines knew nothing of this form of sculpture. The carvings were discovered in Arnhem Land by two young scientists, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Borndt, who said that they had lived with the natives for months to gain their confidence.
