Professor A. H. Tocker’s resignation from the position of Professor of Economics as from 1 February, was accepted with regret at a meeting of the Canterbury University College Council. He is 65 years of age.
Sir David Maxwell Fyfe, a former Conservative Attorney-General, who led tor the Australian banks in' their recent successful appeal to the Privy Council, is reported to have received a fee of £92l7—one of the highest in British legal history. It is estimated that the appeal and also the earlier hearings cost at least £300,090.
