DUNEDIN BAND SUGGESTED FOR EDINBURGH FESTIVAL
DUNEDIN, Feb. 22.
Tlt£_ suggestion that the St. Kilda Band, after its successes at the New Zealand brass band contest at Auckland last week, should represent New Zealand at the Edinburgh Festival of Music and Drama this year has been made by Mr Gladstone Hill, the former well-known conduptor, in a message to the Dunedin Evening Star. The Mayor of .Dunedin, Sir Donald Cameron, who lives, in the St. Kilda Borough, will attend the festival as the guest of the Edinburgh Corporation and will later be the guest of the British Council. Mr Hill suggests that it would be appropriate for the band to go at this time.
A big public reception • will be accorded the band in the Octagon this evening when it returns from the contest.
