SCIENTISTS URGE BETTER MUSEUMS
P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 22 The Seventh Pacific Science Congress ended in Christchurch to-day with a plenary session on the organisation of research. High among general recommendations was. placed that of improvement of training for young students, and facilities for trained scientists. Access was sought to iquch valuable unpublished material collected during war-time operations. Several sections urged the preparation of complete bibiographies in particular subjects. The Congress recommended a greater recognition for museums as research institutions and depositories of reference collections, and recommended that the attention of Governments and other institutions be drawn to serious understaffing in many of them. Sponsors of scientific expeditions will be urged to make financial provisions for preservation of collections assembled.
