(Our Own Correspondent). Mr W. Harris has left on an extended visit to Christchurch. Messrs K. B. and A. McTaggart are visiting Christchurch. . • Mrs McKane, of Reefton, is visiting Mrs P. Connors. Mr P. J. Darby and Mr C. R.ocden have left for Fiji, where they have accepted positions on the staff 01 the Emperor Gold Mining Coy., Ltd., Vatakula. Mr R. Neilson has returned after a visit to Christchurch. A very pleasant evening was spent recently at the club rooms, when the Women’s Co-op. Guild farewelled one of their members, Mrs Connors, lhe guest of the evening was presented with a beautiful spray and a set .of <rilv.< salad servers by the president, Mrs Wynne, who expressed regret at her departure from the township. Mrs Connors suitably replied. _ The evening was spent in games, items and competitions, a dainty supper being served. The evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne”. At the Women’s Institute hall last Tuesday evening, occasion was also taken to farewell Mrs F. Connors, who is leaving to reside in Runanga. The secretary, Mrs Dean, made the presentation of a beautiful spray, and cup, saucer and plate, and wished Mrs Connors every success in her new surroundings. Mrs Connors, in a neat speech, thanked the ladies for theii gift. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mesdames Ord and Devescovi. Items were given by Mesdames Ward, Schofield, Purcell and Reid.
