Drought Killing Cattle In Nor-west Queensland

(Rec. 11.10) BRISBANE, Oct. 29 A disatrous drought is gripping the rich cattle-fattening area on the eastern edge of the vast tableland in the north-west of Queensland. The water supplies from the bores on most of the stations are now almost exhausted, and all of the surface water has vanished long ago. Cattle are now dying in hundreds, and the position is so acute that geological and irrigation experts are surveying the area to see if water can be obtained by sinking bores to a greater depth than those which have dried up.
