Seven Jap. Admirals Charged With Atrocities

A grandson of the former Emperor Meiji is included among seven Japanese admirals who were charged today, before the Eighth Army Tribunal with having robbed, beaten, tortured and murdered over 800 survivors of Allied ships. It was alleged that the atrocities were committed against British, French, Indian, Dutch Norwegian, and American survivors of at least 11 ships that were sunk in the South Pacific and in the Indian Ocean by-Japanese submarines. The late Emperor Meiji’s grandson is Vice-Admiral Teruhisa Komatsu, and he was commander-in-chief of the Sixth Jap. Submarine Fleet from March, 1942, to June, 1943.
