INDIAN MINISTER HAS A SHY AT MR. CHURCHILL

(Reuter —N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 11.20) NEW DELHI, Aug. 13 The Indian Finance Minister, Shanmukan Chetty, told Parliament that, but for Indian war-time help to Britain, not only would England have been a dependency of Germany, but Mr Churchill would have been a captive in Berlin. He said: “I think that Hitler would have had enough sense and humour not to hang Churchill, but either to keep him in a museum, or better still, to make him his butler. We are all familiar with Churchill’s language, especially with reference to India. He talks about his having saved us from Japanese pillaging and slaughter. If he puts such a query, I b o ''e an answer for him."
