Soldiers Pursuing 1,000 Chinese In Malaya
(Rec. 5.40) SINGAPORE, Aug. 12 Successful ground and air operations against terrorists continued throughout Malaya on Thursday. Gurkha and Malay soldiers are tracking down nearly a thousand Chinese and their families, following a sweep through Pulai valley, in Kelantan, in which the town-of Pulai was destroyed during the operation. Security forces arrested the Chinese head man of Pulai, Tong King Nyen, who won the British Empire Medal for his courage and loyalty as an anti; Japanese guerrilla during the occupation. It is alleged that he was with bandits, during a recent attack on Gua Musang. Rockets and cannon fire were employed by the R.A.F. on “important insurgent headquarters” a few miles south of the Siamese border on Thursday.
