SOUTHLAND EXPORT LAMB IS WELL FORWARD
P.A. INVERCARGILL, January 15. The first shipment of the new season’s lamb from the Southland Frozen Meat and Produce Export Company’s works at Makarewa and Mataura will be made per the Taranaki, due at Bluff about January 24, and will comprise. 150,000 carcases, said the general manager, Mr A. Derbie, to-day. Mr Derbie said, that the labour position is very satisfactory at both of the works. The killin" began on January 5 with sufficient labour to cope with all of the stock offering. Mataura had two full chains working, and it was expected that a full board of slaughtermen would be -working at Makarewa next week.
