Who Should Find the £1000 ?
WELLINGTON, June 26.
That a reward of £lOOO should be offered for information leading to the conviction of sheep stealers was made by the Wool and Meat Section of the New Zealand Federated Farmers. Delegates to the conference discussed cases of sheep stealing in Southland, Wairarapa, and Waikato. A suggestion that a reward should be paid by the Wool and Meat Board was made. But this was altered to a request to ask the Government to pay. Delegates considered it unlikely that the .Government would offer the amount suggested. The reward for information leading to the conviction of a murderer is- only £5OO. It was agreed that the Government should be asked to increase the penalty.
