AUSTRIA INVADED FROM YUGOSLAVIA BY MARAUDERS

(Rec. 5.30). VIENNA, June 28. The Austrian Foreign Office has announced that a group of unidentified marauders crossed the Austrian frontier from Yugoslavia, to the south of Graz, last night. They attacked a patrol of six Austrian gendarmes, killing two of them. The gendarmes retreated before light machine-gun fire. A farmer, his wife, his two sisters’, and his son went to the assistance of the gendarmes. All of the women and the son were wounded.

There was continued firing throughout the night. This prevented the recovery of the bodies. Rescuers, at daylight, found the farmer’s other son missing.
