LONDON, May 21. The second round tie of the Davis Cup series in which Belgium had already beaten Egypt, ended when Washer (Belgium) beat Najar (Egypt), 6/2, 6/4, 6/2, and Shafei (Egypt) beat Geeland (Belgium), 6/4, 6/4, 7/5, giving Belgium a 4-1 win. N.Z. TEAM The New Zealand Davis Cup team is ez.pected to meet Czechoslovakia on May 30 and 31 and June 1 at Prague, though these dates are not finally settled. They will travel to Prague via Denmark. The non-playing captain, Denis Coombe, who spoke from Oslo by telephone to Mr E. D. Andrews in London, said that the team was in the highest spirits. The Norwegians had been kindness itself. Mr Andrews said; “The New Zealanders have done very well to beat Norway in the short time available. They have an outside chance of beating Czechoslovakia, who will provide very strong opposition”. On their return to England, the New Zealanders are booked to play at the Beckenham and the Queen’s Club tournaments, and with O. M. Bold, all have been entered for Wembledon. Bold, who has been gaining useful experience since his arrival, reached the final of the doubles at the Paddington tournament with H. F. Walton. They were beaten by D. H. Slack and D. N. Smart, 6/4, 8/10, 7/5.
