MAY DAY DEMONSTRATIONS IN TRIESTE
TRIESTE, May 1. British, American and civil police used tear gas, water hoses and mounted squads to scatter an antiAllied demonstration by over 5000 Italians after the May Day celebrations. The demonstrators attempted to parade, despite the ban on processions, and stoned police.
