CHANGES IN SPAIN
LONDON PRESS REPORT. (Rec. 11.5) LONDON', Jan. 30. A “Times” correspondent at Madrid stated: The present tendency in Spain is towards the continuance of the regime in the sphere of social organisation, where it is strongest. General Franco is entrusting the development of his unhurried “evolutionary police” to a group of laymen who are connected with the church. They are neither Liberals nor openly Royalists. General Franco has begun to rely chiefly on the support of these moderates for the improvement and the consolidation of the State founded on the military victory, and fashioned by the Falange Party’s bureaucratic method.
