TREK FROM DARWIN

1100 ARMY VEHICLES.

BIG SALE BEING HELD

(Rec. 8.30). DARWIN, January 20. A new overland trek is indicated, following on the Northern Territory’s biggest disposal sale of used Army vehicles. More than two hundred vehicles were sold on the first day, and there are buyers from all of the States, who are bidding for a total of eleven hundred vehicles. Ex-service-men from as far afield as Melbourne and Adelaide were given a choice before big buyers took over. As there is no chance of shipping any of the vehicles from Darwin, all of them must go overland. The buyers have been given six weeks to remove the vehicles. These range from wrecks to erratic goers. Sufficient petrol has been promised by the Army.
