1000 MOTORS DUMPED.

(Rec. 8.40). WASHINGTON, Jan. 28. In the House of Representatives. Mr Latham (Republican) said: Letters from returned servicemen have confirmed that there ,has been wanton destruction of enormous quantities of surplus United States military supplies in Pacific bases. One letter, from New Caledonia, said: “More than 250 boats, of all kinds, mostly in fair or in good condition, have been burned. A large crane has, for months, been daily dumping material, especially new electrical equipment, into the sea. About one thousand vehicles, with thousands of tyres, have also been dumped. Sedan cars, in perfect condition, have been smashed. Hundreds of motor-cars have been dumped, or been covered with earth.”
