ST. JOHN'S HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY There was a large number of beautiful Spring flowers displayed at the St. John’s Horticultural Society’s Spring flower show held at St. John’s Hall, Greymouth, yesterday. Mr. Yates judged the daffodils and the cut flower sections, while Mrs. R. T. Bush judged the decorative sections. Mr. E. Yates said that there was some very close competition, the eight entries for the premier bloom proving most difficult to separate. The prize was awarded to a twocolour trumpet “Effective” displayed by Mr. W. Buchanan. Mr. Yates also commented on the freshness of the 'bloomfl, which, he said, were the best exhibited for a long time. W. Buchanan won the St. John’s Daffodil Cup for the most points in that section and Miss Craig was runner up. Miss Prendegast won the Cut Flower Trophy, while Miss Craig won the trophy for most points in the decorative section. The following awards have been m Daffodils.—Six Trumpet Daffodils: W. WEST COAST SOCIETY The annual spring flower show arranged by the West Coast Horticultural Society will be held in the Town Hall," to-morrow and Friday. The quality of the blooms already exhibited guarantees an excellent display of daffodils and other Spring flowers. All garden lovers will want to see the show and thq. Society has done its best to make it a success. Now it is up to the public to support its efforts by attending in large numbers thus assuring the Society of a successful show.
