ST. JOHN'S HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY There was a large number of beautiful Spring flowers displayed at the St. John’s Horticultural Society’s Spring flower show held at St. John’s Hall, Greymouth, yesterday. Mr. Yates judged the daffodils and the cut flower sections, while Mrs. R. T. Bush judged the decorative sections. Mr. E. Yates said that there was some very close competition, the eight entries for the premier bloom proving most difficult to separate. The prize was awarded to a twocolour trumpet “Effective” displayed by Mr. W. Buchanan. Mr. Yates also commented on the freshness of the 'bloomfl, which, he said, were the best exhibited for a long time. W. Buchanan won the St. John’s Daffodil Cup for the most points in that section and Miss Craig was runner up.
