EXECUTION AT PRAGUE PRAGUE, Sent. 18
The S.S. Obergrueppen Fuehrer, Walter Schmidt, who was Himmler’s right-hand man, was sentenced to death and executed to-day. Schmidt was inspector of several concentration camps and’ was charged with the brutal treatment of prisoners at Ravensburck where one hundred Czech women were tortured to death. NEW DELHI, September 17.
The Government announced that Indian demobilisation would begin on October 1. Surplus recruits would be first demobilised, and certain •rained men would later be released. The first process would spread over eight months. The releases .of British officers and other ranks from the Indian Army would continue to parallel the releases of opposite numbers in the British Service. KANDY, Sept. 7.
SEAC headquarters announced that the 20th Indian Division, under Major-General D. Gracey, arrived at Saigon. LONDON, September IS. _ Mr. Atlee will broadcast on India to-dav immediately after the eight p.m. G.M.T. news. The broadcast will be given a few hours after Lord Wavell’s broadcast to the Indian people on the outcome of his recent London discussions with members 01 Cabinet on India’s constitutional future. ______
