BRUNNER NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent.] To mark the opening of the Cooperative Society at Brunner, a most successful social and dance was held in the Wallsend Hall on Saturday night. Quite a few visitors were present from Runanga, including Mr. T. Bowes and Mr. F. Oakley, Secretary and President respectively ®f the Runanga Co-op Society. Items <vere rendered by Miss Cook and Master Cook, Mrs. G. Martin, Miss Marion Smith and Mr. G. Smith. Mrs. H. Browning and Mr. Royce Kerr. A public reception was extended to Pte. Bruce Gracie in the Wallsend Hall last evening. The Mayoress (Mrs. W. Gutberlet) made the presentation. The Mayor (Mr. Gutberlet), in a few well-chosen remarks commented on the poor attendance. Mr. K. Creagh representing the footballers of 'the district, and Mr. J. Fairman, of the R.S'.A., also welcomed Pte. Gracie.
