Nurse Terry -of Hanmer is visiting friends in Kumara.

Mrs. Boot of the North Island, is visiting her sister, Mrs. M. Neville. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson .of Lumsden a're on a holiday visit to Mr. and Mrs. Don. Brown, Church Street. L.A.C. Desmond Haines is on leave from an Air Force station and visiting his mother, Mrs. J. Haihes. Messrs J. E. Hunt and V. Louden are inmates of the Westland Hospital. . .' Mrs. Landrebe is on a visit to Timarti. , ‘ Messrs Doug and Chas Clark have returned after visiting their parents in Christchurch. The Cobbers Club is the name given to a social group of about 60 young people of the town. Mr. Colin Goad the organiser, said the idea was to promote games and sports and to arrange social evenings and learners’ dances. A committee of 12 was chosen, Miss Daphne Hahn being secretary, to organise the various forms of entertainment. The Kumara Hockey Club, now defunct, recently wound up their finances and donated the proceeds amounting to £6 16s 3d to’the school s swimming bath fund, which now stands at over £5O in voluntary contributions. . „ The Canterbury Education Board s architect visited Kumara on Wednesday and conferred with Mr. G. Majcolmscn regarding the baths and it is honed to commence the work. The reconditioning .of portion of the Taramakau traffic bridge has been completed, as a result of the recent o-rant from the Government for the work. Public Work’s Department men, under the direction of Mr. McConville, have done a good job.
