RUGBY FOOTBALL

TO-DAY’S play To-day the second matches in the West Coast Rugby Union’s senior competition, are to be played at Greymouth. The match on the No. 1 ground at Rugby Park. ] s between Celtic and Star-United. Though beaten last week, Celtic showed good style and Star-United will have to be on top of form to beat them. The combined team is rather a dark horse in that it had the bye last week, and has not yet appeared in competition games this year However, the team contains many of its 1943 players and the meeting of these two fifteens this afternoon should produce an even, interesting match. On the No. 2 ground, Blaketown, conquerors of Celtic last week, will meet Hokitika, also a team of which little is known, though they have been beaten by a strong Cobden side on their home ground. This game should be worth seeing as Blaketown is an improving team with young vigorous players, and should soon be providing good football.

Third grade fixtures between Cobden and Celtic will provide the curtain-raiser at Rugby Park while Technical will meet BJ.akeiown at the T'echnical ground. Fourth grade matches will also be played at Rugby Park and at the Technical ground.
