HALF MILLION FROM EUROPE IN A YEAR.

(Rec. 9.10) NEW YORK, Dec. 12. Mr. Breckenbridge Long, Assistant Secretary of State, told the House c_ Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Ccmmitt.ee that during the past year more than 580,000 victims of Hitler’s persecution entered the United States. The majority of these have been Jews. ;He said: “We are ready to take all refugees from France and other occupied territory. All of the neutral ’countries in Europe, including Spain, have cooperated in finding a way out for the refugees. However Britain and America had the chief responsibility in meeting the problem.”
