FRENCH GUIANA
Declares for De Gaulle LONDON, March 21. French Guiana has rallied to General De Gaulle, and not to General Giraud, as previously, reported. “The New York' Times” says: “French Guiana’s sudden turnover to General De Gaulle has thrown the situation surrounding the French possessions in the Western Hemisphere into confusion.” Informed circles in America assume that a: London announcement that Guiana is De Gallist has superseded a statement made earlier to General Giraud’s military mission in Washington that the colony had declared its ■allegiance to General,-Giraud. According to the Algiers radio General Giraud telegaphed to Fench Guiana as follows: “I congratulate you on the decision to bring our old and faithful colony into line. Please give the population of French Guiana a, brotherly, salute from the African Empire. Express my firm determination to assure their happiness,” Mr. Hubert Guerian, French Minister to Helsinki, has left his post to join General Giraud. P.A. WELLINGTON, March 22.
