MR JORDAN'S EFFORTS PRAISED. WELLINGTON. Nov. 25. Mr Fraser said to-day, that the High Commissioner (Mr Jordan) for some time nast had been sendiiig to all prison camps where New Zealanders were detained, a news letter containing interesting items cabled from New Zealand. Mr Fraser has just received from Mr Jordan a message quoting a number of extracts from prisoners’ cards received from various camps. One New Zealanders wrote to Mr Jordan. “You don’t know how much pleasure the sports results and news brings us. There is no doubl that the New. Zealanders are the best looked after troops here, thanks to your organisation. We are . all receiving your cigarette parcels regularly.” Another /New Zealander wrote: “All New Zealanders here—over 70— hold a weekly social gathering on Sunday evenings, when home news is exchanged and discussed. Your letter was read at the last meeting. Everyone is now looking forward to receiving the next.” “It is a good effort, proving interesting to many besides New Zealanders,” another wrote. Mr Fraser said that from such comments next of kin would appreciate everything possible was being done to ensure that our men get the most possible news from their homeland. The High Commissioner’s Office took steps as soon as a prisoner’s address was known to ensure parcels, clothes and' other requisites were sent. Many letters reached Mr Jordan expressing appreciation of the work done for, prisoners, both from Britain and, by the prisoners of war office in New Zealand. A recent card said: “New clothing and cigarettes are a godsend, worthy of our native land.”
