BRITAIN MAY NOT ACCEPT SUPPLIES. P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. The New Zealand Government had recently been advised by the British Government, that import licenses for the 1942-43 crop of New Zealand rape seed might not be available, Hon. J. G. Barclay said to-night. The British Government had also stated that might not allow the importation of ryegrass and red clover seed, ana that white clover seed might be banned in the following season The serious effect that such Prohib 'tion would have on the New Zealand farmers who had undertaken the production of these seeds for Britain, had been pointed out, Mr. Barclay said, and the matter was still under negotiation. In the meantime, further contracts for the production Ot the seed should be made with cay--tion, until the Government could make a definite announcement. Seeds for home consumption and for otnei markets, .apart from Britain, were still required.
