FIRE BLIGHT IN NELSON
CROP REDUCTION NOT SERIOUS. P.A. NELSON, Nov. 25 An outbreak of fireblight has occurred in the Nelson district this_ season, and. as a result of a survey by officers of the Department, it is evident that the disease is fairly widespread, but varies in intensity in the Stoke, Richmond and Hope areas The infection which is most severe, evidentlv took place during the blossoming period, and has resulted in the typical kill of fruit spurs on apples and pears. Further infection of growing shoots has followed. Fortunately onlv a few instances have been revealed where crops have been appreciablv reduced this season on account of fireblight, but some loss has occurred.
