DAIRY SUBSIDY

(Rec. 11.10.) CANBERRA, October 7. The Federal Cabinet to grant a subsidy of two million pounds a year to the dairy industry, according to an. announcement made in the House of Representatives by Mr Curtin. For some time, the dairy industry has been suffering considerable difficulty owing to the shortage of manpower, due to the militarv callups, and to the higher wages offeringin the various munition factories.
The subsidy will be allocated by a Tariff Board, with the object of ensuring adequate supplies for the armed forces, and the civilian population and the people of Britain, and also to provide an adequate living for the farmer and his employees.
