SLIGHT EASING IN CATTLE. (Special to "Argus.”) P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, June 3. Messrs H. Matson and Co. review to-day’s live-stock sales at Addington as follows;— Lambs; The entry showed a decline, the sale being near the end >- the season. Butchers .operated at prices mainly between 27s and 31s, and paid 22s 6d to 26s for some light lots at 20s.

Fat Cattle: The entry showed an increase of about 100 head. There was a heavy showing of prime cattleThe market opened on a par wit* the previous week, but eased 10s to 15s a head later in the sale. Good beef made from 39s to 41s 6d per 100 lbs., medium beef 35s 6d to 37s 6d 100 lbs.; unfinished stores 32s to 35s per 100 lbs., second and interior 31s 6d to 26s per 100 lbs. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers £l9 12s 6d, prime heavy) steers £l4 10s to 1 £l6 ss; prime medium steers £l3 to £l4 10s; ordinary steers £ll to £l2 10s, light steers £lO ss; extra prime heifers £l3 17s 6d, prime heifers £9 to £lO 10s, medium heifers £6 5s to £8; ordinary heifers £6; extra prime cows £l2 7s 6d, medium cows £5 to £6, light and aged £4 10s. Vealers: The entry showed an increase on the previous market, with a large showing of station suckers and large runners. Values showed a considerable decrease on the previous market. Values were: Large runners £4 8s 6d to £7 8s 6d; good vealers £3 6s Od to £5 Ils Od; medium vealers £2 18s 6d to £3 4s 6d; large calves £2 10s 0d to £3 8s ; 6d, others 6s to 40s.

Fat Pigs: The porker yarding was small’, values being the best of the season. The bacon entry was smaller than in the previous week, and recent good values were maintained. For porkers the average price per lb. was 7d to Bd.,.and the bacon average price per lb. 7d to Bd. Stor e Cattle: Store cattre comprised of odd lots of various classes, there being no .well bred straight lines to attract bidders. Prices scarcely held to recent values. Fresh cows made up ro £4 8s 6d and bulls £7 for best. Fat Sheep: Little interest was taken in the sale of fat sheep. The entry showed an increase of 1,000 head on last week. There was a good showing of ewes. Wethers were scarce in supply. The best lots were of good quality. Prices were stabilised at about the level of last week’s advance. Only odd pens came within the export schedule, and purchases of these for works were negligible. The sale concluded slowly. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers 38s Id, orime heavy wethers 31s 6d to 34s 6d. prime medium wethers 29s to 31s, ordinary wethers 25s to . 28s, light wethers 245, extra prime ewes to 29s lOd, prime ewes 25s to . 28s, medium ewes 21s to 245, . ordinary ewes' 18s 6d to 20s 6d, inferior ewes 17s 6d.
