YACHTSMAN DROWNED

WELLINGTON. March 15

A member of the crew of an .Idle Along vacht which capsized in Evans’ Bay at about 3.30 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, was. drawn. -; trying to reach the shore. He was Samuel John Flaws, aged 18. x lt is believed the yacht was running' before a stiff southerly wind when it capsized. Two other members o’’ the crew were wearing /.rebut Flaws did not have one on. The accident occurred about 400 yards offshore. Apparently . the yacht floated upturned, the crew clinging to the bottom in plain view of those watchino- ashore for half an hour before the news was communicated to the Yacht Club and the Police. When rescuers reached the yacht it was found that the crew had swum for the shore and' that the two in life iackets had succeeded. Nothing further was seen .of Flaws.
