ENGINEER BARRED
BY U.S. NAVY SECRETARY. WASHINGTON, February 23. The Navy Department has announced the exclusion of Mr George Deatherage from the Navy work. This is because Colonel Knox (Navy Secretary) found Mr Deatherage to be an undesirable., person within the meaning of naval 'contracts. It is noted that there has been considerable critical discussion of Deatherage’s employment as Chief Engineer to private ■ contractors on the thirty million dollar project of the Norfolk Naval Base, because Deatherage was formerly leader of an organisation known as Knights of the White Camelia, who were alleged to be Fascist and anti-Jewish. UtS.A. NAVAL ADMINISTRATION INQUIRY IN PROGRESS. WASHINGTON, February 23. The Navy has announced that Admiral Blandy, Ordnance Chief, is investigating the N.8.C.. report that ammunition supplied to a warship operating in the' Pacific was old and ineffective.
