LEAGUE FOOTBALL

The Canterbury championship for 1941 has been won by Sydenham, with an unbeaten record in the nine games played. Their figures are 253 points scored, with 63 against. Next on the list cam e Rakaia-Hornby, 12 points, and Linwood 10 points. Canterbury will meet West Coast to-morrow in a match, for the' Anisy Shield. The Coasters are favourites, but they will have to work hard, as Canterbury are fielding a good team. Inangahua will play West Coast for the Northern Union Cup at Greymouth on August 17. Little notice can be taken of Coast’s easy win at Reefton earlier in the season, as Inangahua aKways rises to the occasion when the Cup is at stake. Rumour has it that several of last year’s representatives in N. Osbourn, T. McKenzie and A. Turner will be seen in action again and their services will be valuable. Tiki Smith will be out again next week and R. Leggoe has also returned to the fold so Coast will not need to take the team cheaply.
