NEW MACHINERY AND BUILDING P.A. WELLINGTON, July 20. Meat canning for export is likely to be a substantial factor in opet actions for the coming, season. The necessity for the development of canning has been stressed and the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. J G. Barclay) was asked to-day what progress had been made - . Mr Barclay said that machinery for canning primary products is .on order from the United States at a cost of between £40,000 and £50,000. and bivldines for this industry are being constructed in association with export freezing works which will cost in the region of £200,000. “The Government is responsible for th’s expenditure,’’ acMerl the M’ni -- - ter. “and these facilities w ! ll be avai’able in time for the - com’ng export season.”
