RUNANGA NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent! A general meeting of the Runanga Labour Party wi.s held in the Miners' Hall on Monday night, when Mr S. Morris presided over a fair attendance. It was decided to postpone the proposed picnic of, all branches on the Coa’st, which is to be held at Kumara, until March 2, when it will be most convenient for all the branches. Residents desirous of attending the picnic are asked to hand their names to the secretary, Mr W. Duggan. Circulars were received from Mr A. H. McKane, Buller L.R.C. and the National Secretary. The‘secretary was instructed to procure two dozen copies of the pamphlet “Farms for Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen.” The secretary and chairman were elected as delegates to the Buller L.R.C. to be held on the 15th inst. The Hon. P. C. Webb was nominated for the Buller Electorate at the General Election. Members of the Runanga 1 branch of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union spent a very happy day at the Twelve Mile on Tuesday, on the occasion of their annual picnic. The weather was ideal, and bathing was enjoyed by everyone. Mr K. Southward has entered Wigram, for training in the R.N.Z.A.F. Mr W. Southward, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mr and Mrs T. O’Loughlin.
