ARCHITECTS’ AWARDS

Designs for Auckland Cathedral (Received February 11, 1.25 a.m.) LONDON, February 10. The award of Sir G. G. Scott, in the competition for the design for the Cathedral for Auckland, was announced to-day. The first premium of one thousand pounds sterling goes to a Sydneyite, Mr Charles Towle. The second of 1400 goes to an Aucklander, Mr Amyas D. Connell, who is resident in England. The third of £2OO, is also for Aucklanuers, Messrs Fergus and G. F. Sheppard, while the fourth of £lOO is to the Aucklanders, Messrs Donner and Bartlett. The designs are now being exhibited at the High Commissioner’s office in the Strand. Mr A. D. Connell, who is a Rome Scholarship winner, practices here with a Wellingtonite, Mr Ward.
