Government Retain Croydon (Received Sept. 11, 12.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 10. Ther e was to-day a bye-election for .the Croydon Seat in the New South Wales assembly, due to the former ex-Premier, Mr B. B. S. Stevens’ resignation to contest a Federal seal. It resulted in the Government candidate, Mr David Hunter, having a comfortable. victory, by over two thousand votes over the official Labour nominee, Mr Georg e Weir.
