U.S.A. SINGLES FINALS. (Received September 10, 8.20 p.m.) FOREST HILLS, September 9. McNeil gav e the national singles one of the most stirring finishes in history when he beat the defending champion Riggs 4/6, 6/8, 6/3, ,6/3, 7/5. McNeil was hopelessly outplayed in the first two sets. Then McNeil started forcing the game. The crowd were breathless. McNeil frequently broke through at th e not. He' proved irresistible, despite a brilliant resistance by Riggs. Miss Marble .easily overpowered Miss Jacobs 6/2 6/3, winning her third consecutive national championship. Sh e played a solid all-round game, lacking her usual brilliance, but was very effective against Jacob's precision.
