BOXING
GREYMOUTH SCHOOL. The Greymouth Boxing School concluded their season on Saturday night, when the parents of the boys were entertained with exhibitions of skipping and exercises, followed by some very interesting bouts, which revealed evidence of the good training received during the season. The boys were later entertained at supper during which, opportunity was taken to present trophies won by the boys. The recipients were as follows: — P. Shapcott (most improved boxer); W. H. Woodhouse 2nd. D. Steel (gamest boxer) and J. Nelson (best attendance and behaviour). Mr J. Morgan made the presentations and congratulated the boys. Mr C. L. Thompson, on behalf of the Grey Main School presented the instructors, Messrs J. W. Porter and H. Adams, with an eight-day chimbing clock and eulogised the good work they had put in during the year. He thanked them for the many services they had rendered, both to the Grey and Paroa Schools. Messrs Porter aiTd Adams suitably replied, and in turn thanked the members of the committee for their loyal co-operation. Mr C. F. Shapcott, on behalf of the parents, expressed appreciation of the able manner in which the school had been conducted. From the enthusiasm displayed it is confidently anticipated that the school should again have a most successful season and should provide a good stimulus to boxing in the district. ■ During the season the boys have taken part in the various tourneys, and have acquitted themselves well.
