Paparua Escapee CAPTURED IN DUNEDIN. I Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] DUNEDFrf, May 18. After an extensive search by the police, Francis • Henry Gordon Guilford, who escaped from Paparua Prison on May 2, was arrested in a house, at South Dunedin, this morning. The arrest was the culmination of the smart piece of work by De-tective-Sergeant T. Y. Hall, Sergeant Stark (South Dunedin), and Detective Wells. Guilford, who submitted quietly, will be charged in the Police Court to-morrow morning with escaping from custody. Guildford made his escape while working in the quarry at Paparua, and he evaaed capture for over a fortnight. Police and warders scoured the North Canterbury district in the neighbourhood of Rariglora and Kaiapoi, but they failed to find any trace of the missing man. Detailed descriptions were circulated throughout the various police districts, and members of the Force were on the look out for the fugitive It was only through efficient team work that the search was brought to a successful conclusion to-day.
